WHAT IS THE MICHIGAN MEDICARE/MEDICAID ASSISTANCE PROGRAM?
What is MMAP? Michigan’s Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program, or MMAP, is a free service that helps with:
- Medicare benefits
- Your plan options
- How to enroll – When to enroll
- Costs
- Provide enrollment assistance
- If a senior has limited resources, a MMAP counselor can help apply for the appropriate program. Whether you need extra help with prescriptions, enrolling in a Medicare Savings Program, enrolling in Medicaid, or to join or switch your Medicare drug plan, MMAP is here to help!
- A MMAP Counselor can help seniors save on Rx costs by identifying other resources/manufacturer programs and by helping seniors evaluate their drug plan during the annual Part D Open Enrollment.
- A MMAP Counselor can explain Long Term Care options and assist with the application process.
- A MMAP Counselor will identify and report Medicare & Medicaid fraud and abuse. MMAP Counselors do not make decisions for you; they do not sell you insurance; they guide you through your options. Call (800) 803-7174 for more information.

What does MMAP do?
MMAP is a free, unbiased, volunteer-staffed service which assists Medicare beneficiaries who have problems or questions about Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicare Part D enrollment, Long-Term Care Insurance and related issues. MMAP provides these services through the sixteen Area Agencies on Aging offices in Michigan.
