A Volunteer Team that helps seniors maintain their homes by making them safe and secure. Many older adults have to give up the independence of living in their home simply because the home has not been modified for their safety. Senior Services Team of Handymen to the rescue!

What we can do
- Secure exterior doors
- Check and secure windows and screens
- Make sure outside entrance lights are working
- Make sure exterior areas around the house are safe
- Secure slip hazards inside the home such as, rugs, cords, etc.
- Secure stairs and handrails
- Replace ceiling light bulbs
- Put anti-slip surfaces in bath tubs
- Mount grab bars
- Put in raised toilet seats
- Install smoke alarms
- Install hand-held showers
- Complete other safety-related repairs and tasks
What we can't do
- Roof work
- Eaves replacement or cleaning
- Plumbing projects without a shut off valve
- Crawl space work
- Lawn and garden work
- Painting
- Floor replacement
- Wash windows
- Chemical applications
- Furniture moving or rearranging
- Any job which is outside of the available talent of current volunteers
Requirements
- Must be a Van Buren County Resident
- Homeowner or permission from landlord
Our hours of operation varies. Labor and parts are free to seniors in Van Buren County. However, donations are greatly appreciated and are used to help expand the program and help more people in the community.
Services
We provide services to help make sure seniors can live comfortably and safely in any place they call home—whether that’s their own home or apartment, an assisted living facility or with family caregivers. Our services are not income-based.

We provide a variety of activities including Fitness, Crafts, Card games, live music and much more! Check out our Newsletter or Calendars for our monthly activities. You are sure to meet new friends and find something you enjoy.

Meals
We can arrange to bring meals to seniors at home. Our Dining Programs are held at the centers and provide a low-cost, nutritious meal and a chance to connect, have fun, and socialize.
