Volunteer with us!
RSVP (formerly known as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program) provides opportunities for older adult volunteers, age 55 and older to reinvest in Van Buren area communities. We place individuals in service areas of their choosing based on their skills, interests, and schedule. Some areas of service include medical transportation, tax assistance, minor home repairs, building handicap ramps, food distribution, working at one of our senior centers, or assisting with short-term projects.
“It is a shame to know all of the answers, when no one bothers to ask you the questions.”
Americorps Seniors RSVP volunteers choose how, where and when they want to serve, with time commitments that vary from person to person. You will forge new relationships with people in your community while serving others. Our volunteers have skills and wisdom acquired over their lifetimes. You may choose to volunteer in an area you are familiar with, or decide to try something new. Not only do we benefit from the service of volunteers, research suggests that older adults enjoy physical and mental health benefits from volunteering.
We can help you sign up for what interests you and works with your schedule.

There are so many ways to volunteer!
Nutrition
Help with our Senior Meal program to deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors. We also need help preparing meals. All training is included and we match you to a route that’s convenient for you.
Ramp Builders
Help construct handicap ramps for seniors enabling them to remain safely in their home.
Transportation
Drive seniors who can no longer drive themselves to doctor’s appointments. Hours are flexible; you choose the rides you want to provide, including possible evening and weekend trips. A small gas stipend is provided.
Share Your Skills
Join or lead activities such as fitness, arts & crafts, bingo, puzzles, music, etc. with seniors who attend the centers. Are you a creative writer? Do you knit? Can you paint? We'd love for you to share your talents with us.
Mailings and Office Help
Help with mailings, filing, or occasional receptionist duties at the front desk.
Special Projects
Be a part of our Crafters with a Purpose group, or Senior to Senior Assistance! There is always something going on and you could help set-up, clean-up, play host or just about anything.
